Starting the interior design process

We’re busy here at mimi pineau design these days. That’s a great thing. But there is no denying that it can get hectic, too. We’ve been working hard to finesse our design process to make the interior design experience as smooth and as enjoyable as possible for our clients. We want to everyone to feel at ease, and it starts right from the beginning.

you’re in good hands

After an initial meeting, and before we begin any of the formal design work, we submit a letter of agreement, which outlines our understanding of the work, our general process, and proposed fee. When we’ve all agreed on its contents and the client is ready to proceed, we schedule a site visit, where we carefully measure, take notes and snap photos (lots of photos!).

Once the initial information intake is completed, we set to work putting together a design scheme and initial ideas. This is where I nurture creative inspiration for the project. Alongside the creative process is the initial budgeting phase, where we price out products, labour and ideas, to make sure that it fits within the client’s expectations. At this time, we are also creating a project schedule to accommodate client and trade availabilities.

presenting in style

This initial design development phase may take a few weeks, and once we have a clear idea of how the design, budget and scheduling fits together, we are ready to present this to the client in a cohesive, clear visual package. We’re proposing the most beautiful and practical solutions for your space. We’re ready to answer any questions or concerns that may come up.

No matter the design style of the project, those crucial first steps mean that we don’t put the cart before the horse.
